  • Is there a school representative assigned to each location for information dissemination?
  • Who has release authority for information to the media or parents?
  • Is there sufficient communications links at each site?
   
Communications:
 
  • Are emergency (LEA, Fire, Rescue, Hospital) numbers are readily available to all staff?
  • Does the school have an alternate means of communications for faculty and emergency services in case primary communications are disrupted or unavailable?
   
Security/Safety Response Team:
 
  • Does the school have an organic designated response team?
  • Who are the members of the response team?
  • Does each member of the team have a designated primary and alternate back-up?
  • Are the team members easily identified during emergencies?
  • Is one member designated as a media and parent liaison?
   
Maps and drawings:
 
  • Are detailed maps and drawing available for emergency personnel?
  • Where are these maps located for distribution?
  • Do maps show all buildings, entrances and egresses, fenced areas, out buildings, electrical and mechanical areas, access streets and intersections?
  • Are maps and drawings on file with supporting LEAs?
   
Hazardous and Toxic Materials:
 
  • Are there detailed plans for hazardous/toxic spills?
  • Does the plan include recognition, response team integration, info dissemination, evacuation, command structure, and accountability?
   
Weather Hazards:
 
  • Are there detailed plans for weather related hazards?
  • Does the plan include recognition, response team integration, info dissemination, evacuation, command structure, and accountability?
  • Does the plan include use of emergency shelters?
  • Are emergency shelters easily identified and have ease of access?
  • Are staff members designated as shelter managers?
  • Do shelters include or have access to communications and first aid equipment?
